2025 in Review | Reflecting on the Year

The past year marked a significant chapter for Starstruck. This journey has been filled with memorable moments, new additions, and challenges that tested our resolve and deepened our commitment to creating an unforgettable experience for every visitor. Here’s a look back at the highlights, the hurdles, and the heartwarming stories that shaped our year.

Welcoming Lara, Our New Camp Host

One of the most exciting changes this year was welcoming Lara to our team as the new camp host & manager. From the moment she arrived, Lara became a beloved figure among guests. Always present on-site, she offers a friendly face and quick assistance whenever needed. Her dedication to guest comfort and her deep knowledge of the area have enriched the Starstruck experience, making stays smoother and more enjoyable.

Introducing the Casa Offering for Families and Groups

Responding to the needs of larger groups and families, we launched Casa Starstruck this year. This spacious 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom home comfortably accommodates up to 10 guests. It shares the same peaceful setting that Starstruck is known for, but on 40 private acres. The Casa also has a cowboy plunge pool, perfect for cooling off in the desert heat.

This retreat has quickly become a favorite for families & groups.

Celebrating Special Moments with Our Guests

Throughout the year, we had the honor of hosting guests celebrating anniversaries, birthdays, and other milestones. We also welcomed many guests simply seeking a retreat to reconnect with loved ones, escape the daily hustle, or have an unforgettable base for exploring the Big Bend. Regardless of the reason for their visit, our guests leave rejuvenated & happy, reaffirming our purpose. Guests often shared stories of stargazing nights, quiet mornings, and the simple pleasure of disconnecting in nature. Their heartfelt reviews on Google, Facebook, and in our guest book reflect the deep connections made here.

Highlighted Guest Experiences

  • A couple celebrating their 25th anniversary described their stay as “magical and peaceful, with the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation.”

  • A family group praised the Casa for its spaciousness and the serene environment that allowed them to reconnect.

  • Several guests mentioned how Lara’s warm hospitality made their visits feel like coming home.

These testimonials inspire us to keep improving and personalizing every stay.

Overcoming Challenges: The Broken Generator and Solar Upgrades

No year is without its challenges. Midway through the year, our main generator broke down. This generator is crucial for providing power when solar energy falls short, especially during cloudy days or high demand. We had to rely on a backup generator temporarily while arranging a replacement. This incident highlighted the importance of sustainable and reliable energy solutions for Starstruck.

In response, we invested in additional solar panels and battery storage to increase our capacity. These upgrades ensure that we can meet guest needs more consistently and reduce our environmental footprint. Notably, we have not had our generator kick on once since upgrading our solar system. Every setback has pushed us to pour more love and resources into Starstruck, reinforcing our goal to offer a truly unforgettable and eco-friendly stay.

Completed One Full Year of Hosting in Our Glass Domes

2025 marked an exciting milestone as we completed our first full calendar year of guests in our stunning new hard-shell glass domes. We upgraded our domes from PVC tarps to glass domes at the beginning of 2024. These domes are not only more robust against the elements but also offer enhanced soundproofing and superior climate control for your ultimate comfort. With larger bay windows, guests can indulge in breathtaking sky views right from their beds. As the only glass domes in all of Texas, they provide a unique and luxurious experience that combines nature with modern amenities. Join us in celebrating a year filled with unforgettable moments and breathtaking views!

The Big Bend Experience Amid Government Shutdown

Big Bend National Park faced its own challenges this year with a government shutdown that affected park operations. Despite this, visitors continued to come, drawn by the park’s natural beauty and the chance to escape into the wilderness. Many took on the responsibility of packing out their trash and leaving no trace, showing respect for the fragile environment.

This community spirit among visitors and locals alike helped maintain the park’s integrity during a difficult time. It also reminded us how important it is to support and protect this special place for future generations.

Reflecting on the past year, we feel grateful for the growth, the memories made, and the resilience that defined our journey. From welcoming Lara and expanding our accommodations to overcoming technical challenges and witnessing the dedication of our guests and the Big Bend community, every experience has strengthened our commitment to providing an exceptional stay.

We wish you & yours a very Happy New Year! We hope to host you in 2026.
